Additional Items

Thank you to everyone for being so generous. Thank you to my dad, especially, for committing to the full shipping cocst. I have almost received all of the things I need. If you are still wanting to donate something, here are a few other items that I know the children need:

* socks (a big bag would be great, so that each of the children could just take a pair)
* bars of soap, or liquid hand soap (the children never wash their hands because they don't have soap)
* children's multi-vitamins
* shampoo
* tooth brushes and toothpaste
* underwear (None of the kids wear underwear)

If you want to help, I need the items by November 19, so that I can ship them on November 20.

Christmas Donations

I am collecting donations for a pair of flip-flops, a light-weight rain coat, and a school bag for each of the children at the Ryvanz-Mia Orphanage. There are 13 kids, and 39 items total. I have already had 24 people choose items from an angel tree, and there are still 15 items remaining. If anyone would be willing to help with any of these items, it would be much appreciated. The items can be gently used. D.I. or a place similar would be an ideal place to find any of these items, with the exception of the flip-flops, of course. For the jackets, judge the size by your best guess. Only the kids’ ages are provided. Keep in mind, these kids are very small. If you would like to provide one of these items, please let me know by leaving a comment, or writing me an email, which item you are taking. I need all items returned to me by November 18. If you need my address, please email me for that information.

First Project

The first project for Kpando Children’s Fund will be a Christmas donation to all of the children at the Ryvanz-Mia Orphanage. There are now 13 children at the orphanage, 3 of which arrived last week. If you would like to donate, please contact me and I can let you know what is needed, and look for future posts on specific items that are needed.

I plan to have the packages shipped out by November 21 so that they can arrive in time for Christmas. Shipping to Ghana takes 2-4 weeks and a small 10 pound package will cost about US $75 to ship.

Any help you can provide will be very much appreciated by the children in Kpando.

I have personally thought of a few ways to ask for clothing donations from my friends and family. My church’s women’s group will be doing a service project where they will be picking a child and they will donate one item to the child of their choice.

Each year, my husband’s family has a drawing among the kids and their spouses, and we all give one gift to the individual that we draw. This year, I am asking that instead of giving gifts to each other, we give one gift to a child.

These are just some ideas that I have thought of that make it easy for everyone to donate.
